Materials

Since 2014 I use materials in the hair I make. Materials will make the hair appear more realistic. I also include hair with no materials because not everyone likes it. How it looks depends on your settings and the windlight you use.
I get a lot of questions about the materials and thought it would be a good idea to show you my settings and some examples, so here it goes 🙂

In the picture you see the graphics setting i used. You can use a lower one but be sure to check “advanced lighting model”. Click on the picture for a larger view.

Strawberry Singh made a great video about materials, you can find it here:

I have been searching for more information about the materials feature in Secondlife but did not find much more than Strawberry already did.

Thank you for this explanation, and especially for the with / without comparison photos! Nice difference. Now I think I need to buy more memory for my computer lol.

I had to come back and comment again… I have the Selenia gray hair and it is my absolute favorite – and I’m a hair junky the way my bff is a shoe junky. It really does shine, I see a big difference in photos. These two photos are good examples, I’m wearing the Selenia hair in them, and I just love the shine and contrast in the hair:

Thanks so much for all the care you put onto creating these great materials hairs! I’m definitely a fan! Next on my list I think is that fabulous hair you use in the example photos on this page. 😀
